Miner Cut Diamond Rings

by Lonna

I have a ring that belonged to my Mother with 5 diamonds in it that would be around .25 - .30 carts each set in a gold band that she designed herself.

I recently took it into a local jewellry store because I recalled her telling me the diamonds were very old. I was told that they are what is called old miners cut.

What I was wondering is if these are a very valuable & what the estimated price of the ring would be.

Hi Lonna,
Sorry I don't have a solid answer for you. My instincts tell me that the ring is probably worth more in sentimental value versus monetary value since the diamonds are on the small side. However, your best bet for a clear cut answer is to have it appraised by a gemologist or a jeweler who specializes in estate jewelry.
