Madonnas Engagement Ring: What Kind of Ring Do You Get for the Most Successful Female Recording Artist of All Time?
Madonna’s engagement ring is a five carat knock-out with three round diamond stones in an Edwardian style setting. The ring was created by famed jewelry designer, Neil Lane. Madonna’s wedding band is platinum with several small embedded diamonds. The proposal was a unique one. Guy Ritchie presented the ring on Maddona’s birthday, soon after the birth of their son. He apparently placed the ring in a paper bag on the night stand next to her breast pump. Here’s to keepin’ it real! And hats off to Madonna, for marrying a hottie ten years younger than herself. The magic began when the couple was introduced at a dinner party by Sting and his wife Trudie Styler in 1998.
The couple married in December of 2000, a day after the christening of their son Rocco. The wedding took place in a Scottish castle once owned by Andrew Carnegie. Naturally, the event was star—studded, attended by the likes of celebrities such as Stella McCartney, Sting, Rupert Everett, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Madonna was decked out in a silky strapless number, designed by Stella McCartney and Jimmy Choo shoes. She was also drowning in diamonds. On the pop princess’s head was a $250,000 diamond tiara loaned by Asprey & Garrard of London. Around her neck was a 37-carat diamond cross, custom-designed by the House of Harry Winston in New York. A 19 carat pearl and diamond bracelet, said by some to be a wedding gift from Guy, adorned her wrist. During the reception, Madonna apparently made two wardrobe changes into a dress by Jean-Paul Gaultier and a Versace number.
Madonna’s daughter Lourdes wore a simple ivory dress also designed by Stella McCartney and led the processional as the lone flower girl. How cute is this….Baby Rocco and Guy both wore matching kilts.
It’s hard to believe that the couple has been married for close to seven years now. They recently adopted a child, for a total of three rug-rats. The happy family of five reside in London in Madonna’s country estate. Let’s hope their union will remain strong in the coming years.
