Engagement Rings for Men .... Hokey ? Stylish? Unique?

Engagement rings for men seem to be a new trend in the U.S. To be honest, I think it's kinda strange... or a genius way for the diamond industry to gouge you out of even more money. The guys wears his engagement ring on his left hand and has it soddered to the wedding band or moves the engagement ring to his right hand following the wedding, while then wearing the wedding band on his left hand.

I guess I'm not a big fan of men wearing a lot of jewelry and two rings seems like one too many. I don't even like men's wedding rings to be anything but plain metal....either white gold, platinum or titanium bands. The one nice thing about male engagement rings is that it is a gender-bender...... the woman is supposed to pick up the tab for it.

Please consider that it is definitely more common for men in other countries beyond the US to wear engagement rings. Dudes in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Germany wear engagement rings with pride. However these rings are also used as the wedding ring, and an additional ring is typically not purchased.
