Engagement Ring Fit Question

My girlfriend has what she likes to call "Artist's Fingers." They're rather slender with larger knuckles. Her rings are tight when going over her knuckles and then are loose when sitting in the normal ring area of the finger. I'm affraid that a top heavy engagement ring would constantly spin around to the inside of the hand.



What is the general engagement ring trend for people with fingers like that?



Smaller gems to be not so heavy?

Shorter settings?

Thicker band on the bottom to act as a counterweight?
